 This 4-week course is perfect for those who are not quite sure about the commitment level of the student. “Intro” is a way to discover music at the keyboard without a great deal of expense. No instrument, set of materials or longterm commitment is required. PRIVATE INSTRUCTION Private piano lessons are available to students ages 5 and older, beginning to advanced. Lessons are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes in length depending upon skill level and current need. Fall and Spring semesters last 16 weeks, and Summer session lasts 10 weeks. Each lesson follows a strict curriculum of technique, aural and written theory, and performance from today’s most pedagogically sound methods. Private students are never without opportunities to share their talent or test their newly learned skills. There are annual studio recitals, regional and state contests, and national competitions in which young performers and composers may participate. PIANO LITERATURE Available to students grade 7 or higher - This individualized course of study is for students who wish to possess a greater knowledge of the vast literature available for the piano. Each term focuses on a single genre in the literature. Students have their choice of studying baroque, classical, romantic, impressionist, or 20th-century piano music. This course is ideal for serious young musicians who are preparing to study music at the collegiate level. MUSIC THEORY Available to students grade 7 or higher - Music theory is the study of the building blocks of music composition. Chords, intervals, scales, rhythms, part-writing, and aural training are only a few elements of theory which students can learn in a single term. Because universities and schools of music require several semesters of theory, KW piano studios offer private instruction using the same text books used at university. This course is for the serious student who is looking for a competitive edge when applying for college admission and/or scholarships. |
